Pasadena’s housing boom
When it comes to how a city stands out, there are a number of factors that can make a community unique for what it is. One of the more popular factors especially in California is it’s foreign born diversity. According to Census Reporter which is a website that provides Census data for every community in the country, Pasadena’s foreign born population is predominately from Asian and Latin American descent. With 44% of the foreign born population, Asian American families have flocked to Pasadena in search of living in the suburbs. As for the Latin American foreign born population, which takes 45% the school systems and job opportunities available in the city may have influenced their decision to live in Pasadena.
Something that caught my eye on Census Reporter was in it’s housing market which according to Census Reporter, the median value of homes in the city of Pasadena is at a whopping $842,100 which is well over the median of the state of California. This could be due to the fact that asPasadena has developed over the years, the property values of these homes may have increased at a rate that has drawn families with high incomes into the area.
As someone who visits Pasadena on a regular basis, its common to notice that homelessness is a problem that needs to be adressed not only in Pasadena but throughout the state. As for those living below the poverty line in Pasadena, it is somewhat high at 15.7% which is higher than the median in California which is at 12.8%. those living below the poverty line may be in South Pasadena where crime has been on the rise as of lately.
